Yellow-headed Blackbird, Tunkwa Lake, BC
The Yellow-headed Blackbird, along with its cousin the Red-winged Blackbird, is common in every wetland or marsh in Southern BC. They mainly eat seeds and insects, sometimes catching them in flight. They can be very aggressive defending their territory from other, sometimes much larger birds (and the occasional human who ventures too close to their nest). Luckily it was not breeding season when Anne saw this one on Tunkwa Lake.
